He is the author of five books – Focus on the Good Stuff, Be Yourself Everyone Else Is Already Taken, Nothing Changes Until You Do, Bring Your Whole Self to Work, and We’re All in This Together — which have been translated into fifteen languages.
Over the past twenty-five years, Mike has partnered with hundreds of organizations, including Google, Microsoft, Wells Fargo, Walmart, Schwab, LinkedIn, Deloitte, the U.S. Department of Labor, Gap, Harvard University, Coca-Cola, Disney, Chevron, eBay, Kaiser, Airbnb, UC Berkeley, the NBA, Pixar, Genentech, Adobe, and the San Francisco Giants, among many others. He has spoken in seventeen countries across four continents and is one of fewer than 10% of professional speakers worldwide to earn the prestigious Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation from the National Speakers Association.
Through his keynotes, seminars, leadership programs, and executive coaching, Mike empowers leaders and teams to strengthen trust, enhance collaboration, and embrace authenticity as a driver of high performance. Mike’s work has been featured in Harvard Business Review, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, The Economist, and on ABC News, NPR, and the Oprah radio network. A sought-after thought leader and trusted advisor, he brings a rare combination of data, story, and soul to every stage and engagement, turning insight into action that audiences can apply immediately. Known for his warmth, humor, and authenticity, Mike has a unique ability to connect deeply with people — whether he’s speaking to a few dozen senior executives or thousands at a global conference.
Before founding his firm in 2001, Mike played baseball at Stanford University and professionally with the Kansas City Royals. Though injuries ended his athletic career early, the lessons he learned through all those years of training and competition, about mindset, teamwork, and resilience, continue to shape his philosophy on leadership and life.
After his playing career, Mike worked in sales and business development for two internet start-ups before discovering his deeper passion: helping people and teams fulfill their potential. Since then, he’s become a trusted partner to leaders and organizations around the world who are committed to creating cultures of trust, authenticity, and appreciation where people and performance can truly thrive.
Mike holds a degree in American Studies from Stanford University, with a specialization in race and ethnicity, and has completed extensive professional and personal development training, including with the Coaches Training Institute. He's the host of the popular podcast, We're All in This Together, which has almost 450 episodes. He's also delivered three TEDx talks which have close to 2.5 million views.
Deeply committed to service and inclusion, Mike has served on the boards of Challenge Day and The Peace Alliance. A contributing author to several anthologies, he lives in Novato, California, with his wife Michelle and their two daughters, Samantha and Rosie.
