Gadson, USA (retired) Co-author of Finding Waypoints: A Warrior’s Journey Toward Peace and Purpose Colonel Gregory D. Gadson is a Chesapeake, Virginia native who served in the United States Army for over 26 years. His distinguished military career culminated in his role as Garrison Commander of Fort Belvoir, where he oversaw the daily operations of a strategic base supporting more than 50,000 military personnel and employees across 140+ commands and agencies for the Department of Defense. A 25-year Army officer, Colonel Gadson's life is a testament to courage and perseverance in the face of adversity. In May 2007, while commanding the 2nd Battalion, 32nd Field Artillery in Iraq, an IED attack resulted in the loss of both his legs above the knees and the partial loss of use of his right arm and hand. Colonel Gadson's impact extended beyond the military. In 2007, he was invited by Tom Coughlin, head coach of the New York Giants, to speak to the struggling team. Drawing from his own experiences of overcoming adversity, Gadson’s words about service, teamwork, duty, and perseverance resonated deeply with the players, who went on to defeat the previously undefeated New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. In 2012, Gadson made his silver screen debut in Battleship, where he portrayed a war-injured veteran who helps save the world from an alien invasion. He later appeared in NCIS: Los Angeles in 2022, further expanding his influence as an actor and role model. Commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant of Field Artillery in 1989 from the United States Military Academy at West Point, Colonel Gadson served in every major conflict of the past two decades, including Operations Desert Shield/Storm, Joint Forge, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom. His leadership was characterized by his unwavering commitment to the Army values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage. As a passionate advocate for wounded warriors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities, Colonel Gadson actively contributes to several veteran service boards, including the Gary Sinise Foundation. He is also the managing partner of Patriot Strategies, LLC, a government services company that continues to serve veterans and military families. In addition to his professional pursuits, Colonel Gadson is an accomplished photographer, artist, and enjoys an active lifestyle that includes cycling, skiing, skydiving, and scuba diving. His military honors include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit (2), Bronze Star (3), Purple Heart, and Meritorious Service Medal (3), among others. And how does a song end up getting stuck in your head? Research shows that more than 90 percent of the time spent listening to music people are actually hearing tracks they’ve listened to before. Repetition is an astounding prevalent feature of music, and it’s the same for business. Purchase repetition and sharing experiences is prevalent to the success of any iconic brand. HOW TO BECOME AN ICONIC BRAND YOUR CUSTOMERS LOVE Harley-Davidson, Soul Train and Mitchell & Ness, a Philadelphia sporting goods store that has been stitching and repairing jerseys since 1904 — the list of iconic brands is large but not when you consider the millions of businesses worldwide that never reach that special status. Ultimately, the power of your brand lies in your ability to make an emotional connection with your customers. Research shows that 80% of buyers will pay more for a better customer experience. Even as companies have spent millions of dollars introducing new brands and protecting established ones, customers have become less loyal. The world’s throwaway mindset is why many brands rise and fall so quickly. When customers aren’t given anything meaningful to invest in, they don’t. What can businesses today learn from some of the world’s most iconic brands to make your customers love you more? During this presentation, attendees will learn how to leverage the strategies and tactics iconic brands have known for decades to win the hearts and minds of their customers for a lifetime. SUCCESS PRINCIPLES OF ICONIC LEADERSHIP Leaders of iconic brands like Virgin, Chick-fil-a and Story, a permanent retail shop in Chelsea NY which completely changes every 4-6 weeks, relentlessly focus on, and understand the vital link between inspired leadership and customer experience. The experience economy we live in today requires an authentic leader who can promote a customer-centered culture and paint a vivid and real picture of the brand vision for employees and customers alike. This includes the benefits your brand delivers, the promises you make, and how you follow-through after delivering upon those promises. Research shows that 70% of a brand’s perception is driven by its employees. Leaders of iconic brands understand words and actions matter more than ever before. As remarkable as these iconic leaders’ achievements may appear, the underpinnings of their successes can be modeled by any organization. - Victoria Arlen
TV Host, Gold Medalist, Author, Speaker, Founder Victoria Arlen TV Host, Gold Medalist, Author, Speaker, Founder Victoria Arlen’s life drastically changed in 2006 at the tender age of eleven when she developed two rare conditions known as Transverse Myelitis and Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis. This was an incredibly rare scenario, and Victoria quickly lost the ability to speak, eat, walk, and move. She slipped into a vegetative state, in which doctors had written her off as a lost cause. Victoria spent nearly four years “locked” inside her own body, completely aware of what was going on but unable to move or communicate. Doctors believed there was little hope of survival and recovery was unlikely. Victoria, however was not ready to give up. Instead of writing her obituary, she wrote a bucket list of the things she would achieve when she survived. In 2010, after almost four years she began the nearly impossible fight back to life - learning how to speak, eat and move all over again. Victoria went on to defy the odds and not only recovered but has since become an accomplished Motivational Speaker, Television Host, Philanthropist, Writer and Swimmer. Her swimming resume includes three silvers and one gold medal from the London 2012 Games, as well as multiple World, American, and Pan American Records. In April 2015, Victoria made the transition from professional athlete to sportscaster and joined ESPN at the age of twenty, becoming one of the youngest on-air talents hired by the company. She reports and hosts across all platforms including Sportscenter , First Take , NFL Live , This Just In , X Games , College Football Live , Sportscenter on Snapchat , Sportscenter Global , College Gameday All Access , and Special Olympics to name a few. In the Spring of 2016, Victoria defied yet another odd and after spending a decade in a wheelchair paralyzed from the waist down was able to learn how to take one step after another and eventually not only did she learn how to walk but within a year and a half in the Fall of 2017, she learned to dance as a contestant on Season 25 of Dancing with the Stars placing in the top five. Victoria is also the founder and co- chair of Victoria’s Victory Foundation, a nonprofit that assists those with mobility challenges. Since 2017, VVF has given out over half a million dollars in scholarship funds to those who need it most. Victoria’s book titled Locked In hit stores worldwide in August of 2018 as well as her 30 for 30 titled Locked In , which Victoria narrated and produced.
