NFL All-Time Leading Receiver San Fransisco 49ers and NFL Hall of Famer Jerry Rice NFL All-Time Leading Receiver San Fransisco 49ers and NFL Hall of Famer The San Francisco 49ers used their first-round draft pick in 1985 on wide receiver Jerry Rice from little known Mississippi Valley State. It did not take long for that decision to pay huge dividends. Rice gave a glimpse of what was to come when he averaged 18.9 yards per catch on 49 receptions for 927 yards and 3 TDs as a rookie. He also rushed six times and scored one touchdown on the ground. In 1986, Rice recorded a season that began perhaps the finest stretch by any receiver in NFL history. That year, he caught 86 passes for a league-leading 1,570 yards. He also led the NFL in touchdown catches with 15. It marked the first of 11 straight 1,000-yard seasons for Rice who also recorded double-digit receiving touchdown totals in nine of the next 10 seasons. The following year, Rice set the NFL record for touchdown receptions in a season with 22. His first of four seasons with 100 catches came in 1990 when he had an even 100 receptions to lead the NFL in that category. It marked the first of two receiving titles for Rice. He led the NFL in receiving yards six times including an NFL record 1,848 yards in 1995. Rice also led the NFL in touchdown receptions six times. No wide receiver in NFL history played more than Rice’s 20 seasons. By the time he retired after finishing his career with Oakland and Seattle, he was the most prolific wide receiver in NFL history with staggering career totals. He owns virtually every significant receiving mark. Some of the more notable career records include receptions (1,549); receiving yards (22,895 yards); most 1,000-yard receiving seasons (14); total touchdowns (208); and combined net yards (23,546). Rice has a hold on multiple NFL playoff and Super Bowl records. He played in eight conference championships and four Super Bowls. He earned three Super Bowl rings with the 49ers and was named the Most Valuable Player of San Francisco’s Super Bowl XXIII win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Rice, who was named first-team All-Pro 11 consecutive seasons and voted to 13 Pro Bowls, is also a member of the NFL’s All-Decade Teams of the 1980s and 1990s and NFL’s 75th Anniversary Team. When Not If: A CEO’s guide to Overcoming Adversity Jeff Martinovich When Not If: A CEO’s guide to Overcoming Adversity Jeff Martinovich built a billion-dollar investment firm from scratch, only to watch it collapse after being wrongly indicted. Standing firm in his beliefs, he rejected three federal plea offers and demanded a trial against the United States Government. Despite being convicted and sentenced to 14 years in a violent, 4,000-man prison, Jeff refused to give up. Ruined, broke, and desperate, he taught himself federal criminal law, represented himself in court, and successfully reversed the court’s decisions five times. He even removed two federal judges and made it home seven years earlier than expected, surviving one miracle after another. A U.S. Air Force First Gulf War veteran, Forbes Books-featured author, and writer of a #1 Amazon bestseller, Jeff now shocks and educates audiences on the trench warfare needed to survive—and thrive—through strength, resilience, and intelligence. His mission is to teach CEOs, business leaders, and entrepreneurs the hard-earned lessons he learned so that they can avoid the pitfalls he never saw coming, and better protect their companies and families from dangers they might never expect. In his keynote, Cautionary Tale: This Could Happen to You Next Tuesday , Jeff shares the harrowing journey of defending his innocence against a government system determined to destroy his life. He offers invaluable lessons from his fight for freedom and justice, warning that even the most successful leaders must be prepared for life’s unexpected “black swan” events. He emphasizes that everyone will eventually face overwhelming challenges, and by preparing now—embracing fear, risk, and resilience—leaders will be equipped to turn disadvantages into advantages when the time comes. While Jeff’s talks are both wildly entertaining and deeply personal, they are also packed with actionable lessons and insights that leaders can apply immediately, no matter their business or personal station in life. In 2021, he was named Executive Vice President of Football Operations for the USFL, playing a key role in the league’s successful launch. Following the USFL’s merger with the XFL to form the UFL, Johnston continues in his leadership role as EVP of Football Operations for the newly formed league, overseeing its growth and development. A Storied Football Career Johnston’s broadcasting career began in 2001 when he joined the FOX NFL booth full-time after spending a year as a game analyst for NFL on CBS. Over the years, he has worked with various play-by-play announcers, including Dick Stockton, Kenny Albert, and Kevin Burkhardt, and has teamed up with legendary personalities like Tony Siragusa. In 2008, he had the opportunity to call the BCS Orange Bowl, and in 2009, he was in the booth for the BCS Sugar Bowl between Alabama and Utah. Johnston’s football analysis and deep knowledge of the game have made him a respected voice on both NFL Network’s "Total Access" and his various media appearances, including his radio show, "The Moose Call" , and hosting duties on local TV shows like “Inside the Huddle” . Johnston’s nickname, “Moose,” was given to him by former teammate Babe Laufenberg, and it became a fitting moniker for the durable, powerhouse fullback. His NFL career began in 1989 when he was drafted in the second round by the Dallas Cowboys after a standout college career at Syracuse University. There, he was named an All-American and earned All-Big East honors in 1988 while earning a degree in economics. Johnston was a key contributor to the Cowboys' dominant Super Bowl victories in 1993, 1994, and 1996, cementing his legacy as one of the most dependable and versatile players in franchise history. A two-time Pro Bowl selection, Johnston was known for his ability to block, catch, and rush the ball, finishing his career with 294 receptions for 2,227 yards and 14 touchdowns, as well as 232 rushes for 753 yards and 8 touchdowns. His career-high of 50 receptions in 1993 remains a testament to his all-around skill set. Despite a career-threatening neck injury in 1997, Johnston played in 149 consecutive games, including the postseason. He made an impressive recovery and continued to play through the 1999 season, but injuries ultimately ended his playing career. Leadership Beyond the Field In 2018, Johnston was named the General Manager of the San Antonio Commanders in the Alliance of American Football League, further showcasing his leadership and football acumen. His role in shaping the team’s roster and operations reflected his vast understanding of the game and his ability to transition into the management side of football. Johnston's legacy is not only defined by his athletic achievements but also by his tireless commitment to giving back to the community. He has dedicated much of his time to charity work, supporting causes such as the Special Olympics, Children's Cancer Fund, Cystic Fibrosis, Muscular Dystrophy Association's Aisles for Smiles, and Literacy Instruction for Texas (LIFT). His philanthropic efforts led to his nomination for the prestigious Whizzer White Humanitarian Award in 1999. A resident of Dallas with his wife Diane, and their children Aidan and Evan, Johnston continues to inspire both on and off the field, proving that his influence in the football world extends far beyond his playing career. • Vikram Mansharamani

Author, Boombustology Vikram Mansharamani Author, Boombustology Dr. Vikram Mansharamani is a global trend-watcher and expert on how to anticipate the future, manage risk, and spot emerging opportunities. He first gained widespread attention with his book Boombustology: Spotting Financial Bubbles Before They Burst , which established his ability to predict market shifts. Since then, he has helped corporate leaders and investors navigate today's radical uncertainty by looking at the world through a unique lens. His strategies provide crucial insights into a range of topics, including China, food security, the global economy, Africa, housing, financial cycles, energy, and more. Recognized for his unparalleled expertise, LinkedIn named Vikram one of their Top Voices for Money, Global Economics, and Finance in 2015 and 2016. Worth magazine listed him among the "Power 100" in 2017, ranking him as one of the 100 most powerful people in global finance. Vikram’s core belief is that the future doesn’t need to be a surprise. By regularly stepping outside of our areas of expertise and adopting a generalist’s mindset, we can better anticipate change. While specialists often focus narrowly on their area of expertise, generalists look at the world through multiple lenses, seeking to connect seemingly disparate dots. By doing so, they often draw conclusions and make decisions that are far more innovative and insightful. Vikram teaches his audiences how to adopt this mindset to identify opportunities and reduce risks in business. From 2009 to 2017, Vikram was a Lecturer at Yale University, where he taught popular courses such as Financial Booms and Busts, Economic Inequality, and Adventures in Business Ethics. He now teaches Humanity and Its Challenges at Harvard's John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. His research focuses on navigating complex uncertainties and understanding the risks that drive global markets. In addition to his academic work, Vikram is a seasoned global equity investor with over 20 years of experience in both public and private markets. He previously served as Managing Director of SDK Capital and currently manages the Kelan Global Opportunities Fund, a global thematic investment partnership founded on his generalist approach to market insights. Vikram’s analysis has been featured in prominent media outlets including PBS Newshour, Bloomberg, MarketWatch, CNBC, Forbes, Fortune, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, and many others. He also contributed the summary chapter to A Force for Good (2015), synthesizing lessons on the role of finance and capitalism in today’s interconnected and unequal world. A sought-after speaker, Vikram regularly presents to diverse audiences across industries, from sovereign wealth funds and family offices to endowments and foundations. His thought leadership on global trends, risk, and opportunity continues to resonate particularly within the investment community, where his insights help guide large-scale capital allocation decisions. As a consultant, Vikram helps clients analyze the business impact of global trends, with a focus on identifying economic, political, and social risks that could disrupt markets. He also leads executive education seminars, teaching senior leaders how to integrate complex, sometimes contradictory, information into actionable strategies. Vikram holds a Ph.D. and MS from the Sloan School of Management at MIT, an MS in Political Science from MIT, and a BA from Yale University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He lives in Lexington, MA with his wife, daughter, son, two cats, and a golden retriever. • Dr. Bertice Berry, Sociologist, Lecturer, Author and Mother

When You Walk with Purpose, You Collide with Destiny Dr. Bertice Berry, Sociologist, Lecturer, Author and Mother When You Walk with Purpose, You Collide with Destiny No one defies stereotypes, generalizations or clichés more than Dr. Bertice Berry. Growing up poor in Wilmington, Delaware, the sixth of seven children, Bertice was told by a high school teacher that she was “not college material”. Fortunately, there was another teacher who believed that she was destined for more. Berry applied to several schools without any idea how she would pay the tuition if she were accepted. The day her application arrived at Jacksonville University in Florida, a wealthy benefactor called the Admissions Department looking for a potential student “who could swim if they had the right backing,” and might sink without it. Bertice not only graduated magna cum laude from Jacksonville where she was awarded the President’s Cup for leadership, she subsequently earned a Ph.D. in Sociology from Kent State University at the age of 26. Dr. Berry taught sociology and statistics at Kent, and demonstrated that she knew a few things about humor, as well. She became one of the most popular teachers at the university; so popular, in fact, larger lecture halls had to be found to accommodate the ever-increasing number of students. A colleague said to me, “You’re funny, and I said, No I’m not, I’m a scholar,” recounts Dr. Berry. It was then that she realized by using humor in her lectures to address such difficult subjects as racisms and sexism she was making a more profound impact. Shortly thereafter, Berry left Kent to become an award-winning entertainer, lecturer and comedienne. From 1991 through 1994 she won the coveted national Comedian of the Year Award, and was also named Campus Lecturer of the Year and Campus Entertainer of the Year. She had created a niche as both a gifted speaker with a comic edge and a comic with a serious message. Her busy schedule included over 200 appearances a year. Berry was the host and co-executive producer of her own nationally syndicated talk show, “The Bertice Berry Show,” and hosted “USA Live,” a four-hour live interview and entertainment show on the USA Cable Network. She’s been featured on numerous other television programs, including appearances on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” ABC’s “20/20” and more recently on NPR’s “Tell Me More” with Michel Martin. Dr. Bertice Berry is also the best-selling author of an inspirational memoir, I’m On My Way, But Your Foot Is On My Head, and the hilarious bestsellers Straight From the Ghetto, You Might Be Ghetto If and the sequel You STILL Ghetto. Her latest book, “A Year to Wellness and Other Weight Loss Secrets” is a personal journey of healing and wellness that resulted in a weight loss of 150 lbs. Despite all of her honors and achievements, Dr. Berry is most proud of becoming the “instant mother” to her five children. She lives in Savannah, GA where she is active in the community. “When you walk with purpose,” Berry says, “you collide with destiny!” TOPICS Change & Transformation Redefining Diversity Becoming The Highest Version of Yourself From The Patient’s Perspective Finding Your Purpose Life Work Balance Redefining Diversity From The Patient’s Perspective Life Work Balance BOOKS The World According to Me I’m on My Way But Your Foot Is On My Head Redemption Song The Haunting of Hip Hop Jim & Louella’s Home-made Heartfix Remedy When Love Calls You Better Answer The Ties That Bind A Year to Wellness and Other Weight Loss Secrets PAST CLIENTS America Online Pacific Bell GMAC Sam’s Club/Walmart Agilent Technologies Blue Cross Blue Shield KU Medical Center Kaiser Permanente American Airlines Walmart

  • Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez

Legendary Hall of Fame Catcher, World Series Champion, Entrepreneur and Author Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez Legendary Hall of Fame Catcher, World Series Champion, Entrepreneur and Author Iván Rodríguez, widely regarded as one of the greatest catchers in MLB history, boasts a staggering 14 All-Star Game selections and 13 Gold Glove Awards, both records for any catcher. But perhaps the most telling statistic of his greatness is his 2,427 games behind the plate—the most by any catcher in major league history, and few have done it with such excellence. Born on November 27, 1971, in Manatí, Puerto Rico, Rodríguez honed his skills in the baseball-obsessed culture of his homeland before signing with the Texas Rangers as a free agent at just 16. By 1991, he was already considered one of the top catching prospects in the game, known for his legendary arm. He made his MLB debut with the Rangers on June 20, 1991, finishing fourth in the Rookie of the Year voting and quickly solidifying his reputation as an elite defensive catcher. In 1992, Rodríguez won his first Gold Glove Award and made his first All-Star Game appearance, beginning a dominant career behind the plate. Offensively, he soon blossomed as well, achieving eight consecutive seasons batting over .300 starting in 1995, while also adding power to his game. In 1999, Rodríguez won the American League MVP after a career year—hitting .332 with 35 homers, 113 RBIs, and 25 stolen bases. He became just the eighth catcher in history to record 100 runs and 100 RBIs in a season. Rodríguez's career took another turn in 2003, when he joined the Florida Marlins for a one-year stint, hitting .297 with 16 home runs and 85 RBIs, leading the Marlins to the postseason. He was named NLCS MVP and helped propel the team to a World Series title. Afterward, he signed with the Detroit Tigers, bringing veteran leadership to a rebuilding team, and in 2004, he led them to a 29-game improvement, winning his seventh and final Silver Slugger Award. In 2006, Rodríguez led the Tigers to the World Series. He spent his final seasons with the Yankees, Rangers, Astros, and Nationals, retiring after the 2011 season with 2,844 hits—the most by any player with at least 50% of their games played as a catcher. Over his 21-season career, he finished with a .296 batting average, 311 home runs, 572 doubles, and 1,354 runs (the most ever by a catcher), along with 1,332 RBIs. An important presence in Latino sports history, Rodríguez solidified his legacy as one of the greatest players in baseball history when he was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2017. Hispanic BOOKS They Call Me Pudge: My Life Playing the Game I Love With 14 All-Star appearances, 13 Gold Gloves, a Most Valuable Player Award, and, of course, a World Series ring, Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez has more than earned his spot in Cooperstown as one of the best Major League catchers of all time. In They Call Me Pudge , Rodriguez tells the story of his unforgettable baseball journey, from signing his first professional contract as a 16-year-old in Puerto Rico, to his years in Texas, Detroit, and beyond, to the World Series stage in Miami, and behind the doors of the Texas Rangers front office. Rodriguez's accomplishments, his teammates, and his biggest challenges all receive time in the spotlight in this refreshing memoir of a life and Hall-of-Fame career.

Heisman Winner, Super Bowl Champion, Hall of Famer, Tony Dorsett – A Legacy of Greatness On and Off the Field Tony Dorsett Heisman Winner, Super Bowl Champion, Hall of Famer, Tony Dorsett – A Legacy of Greatness On and Off the Field Anthony Drew was born to Wes and Myrtle Dorsett on April 7, 1954, in Rochester, Pennsylvania. When his parents moved to be near the Jones and Laughlin Steel Mill in Aliquippa when Tony was young, they hoped at least one of their seven children would reach beyond the town's limits. Tony was the one who did. He had visions that went beyond the steel gray hue of the Western Pennsylvania projects that he called home. While Tony was still attending Hopewell High School in Aliquippa, his coach made a wise decision to switch him from linebacker to running back. Dorsett gained 1,034 yards as a junior in high school, and his record of excellence continued unabated when he moved up a step to the University of Pittsburgh. Dorsett's record with the Panthers was legendary. He was named to an All-America team as a freshman and again as a junior and senior. Playing under Coach Johnny Majors, Dorsett became the first college back to run for 1,000 or more yards four seasons and the first to gain more than 1,500 yards for three years. His best season as a senior saw him running for 1,948 yards and 21 touchdowns. He crowned a brilliant collegiate career by being named All-American four times and winning the coveted Heisman Trophy in 1976. He is considered one of the greatest running backs in college football history. In the 1977 draft, the Dallas Cowboys were quick to select Tony in the first round. He won consensus rookie of the year honors in helping Dallas win Super Bowl XII. Tony is one of the top ten all-time leading rushers in the NFL. In 1982, Tony captured his first NFC rushing title and established an unbreakable NFL record by racing 99 yards from scrimmage for a touchdown. Tony served as team captain in '81, '82 and '84. He was voted to the Pro Bowl in '78, '81, '82 and '83. In 1981 he earned consensus All-Pro honors and was named NFC Player of the Year by UPI. In a 1979 Gallup Youth Survey of American teenagers' favorite sports personalities, Tony finished second to Roger Staubach. 1994 was a banner year for Tony. He was inducted into the prestigious Dallas Cowboys’ Ring of Honor, the College Football Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Today, Tony lives with wife Janet in the Dallas area and has three beautiful daughters and a son, Anthony, who also played in the NFL. • Mike Abrashoff

Former Commander, USS Benfold and Author, It's Your Ship Mike Abrashoff Former Commander, USS Benfold and Author, It's Your Ship At the age of 36, the Navy selected Abrashoff to become Commander of USS Benfold – at the time, the most junior commanding officer in the Pacific Fleet. The immediate challenges that faced him on this underperforming naval warship were staggering: exceptionally low morale, high turnover and unacceptably low performance evaluations. Few thought that this ship could improve. In many ways, the USS Benfold was actually an extreme example of the same problems facing many organizations today. The solution was to establish a system of management techniques that Abrashoff calls The Leadership Roadmap. At the core of his leadership approach on Benfold was a process of replacing command and control with commitment and cohesion, and by engaging the hearts, minds, and loyalties of workers – with conviction and humility. “The most important thing that a captain can do is to see the ship through the eyes of the crew.” According to Abrashoff, The Leadership Roadmap is a practice that empowers every individual to share the responsibility of achieving excellence. “It’s your ship,” he was known to say. His former sailors to this day still remind him of it. By every measure, these principles were able to achieve breakthrough results. Personnel turnover decreased to an unprecedented 1 percent. The rate of military promotions tripled, and the crew slashed operating expenses by 25 percent. Regarded as the finest ship in the Pacific Fleet, Benfold won the prestigious Spokane Trophy for having the highest degree of combat readiness. Most important – this transformation took place with the same crew. What had changed was the ship’s culture and Abrashoff’s leadership style. Abrashoff recounted the leadership lessons from the turnaround of USS Benfold in It’s Your Ship, a New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller, with over 800,000 copies sold to date. This extraordinary interest in Abrashoff’s leadership journey and Benfold’s organizational lessons led to two follow-up books – Get Your Ship Together and It’s Our Ship. Those books took readers deeper into ways these principles have been put into action by business leaders in their own organizations. Prior to commanding USS Benfold, Abrashoff served as the Military Assistant to Secretary of Defense William J. Perry. He also helped draft the air defense plan for naval forces in the Persian Gulf in 1990, coinciding with Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait; and served as the Executive Officer of the Cruiser Shiloh, where he deployed to the Persian Gulf in support of United Nations sanctions against Iraq. Mike Abrashoff is the founder of GLS Worldwide, a consulting firm which works with and supports leaders as they address leadership, talent and business challenges within their organization. The firm challenges leaders at all levels to re-imagine their leadership thinking and create new ways to elevate individual, team and organizational performance.
